Project Summary

This final project will be an exploration of a VR product workflow that will yield physical and digital products.

The workflow goes like this:

  1. Concept development and sketching — using Procreate on Ipad Pro

2. VR product sketching — using Oculus 2 and Gravity Sketch with SubD capabilities

3. Product refinement — using Rhino or Fusion 360. Rhino for redeveloping products for parametric designs and multiple iterations.

4. Product rendering — physically in a 3D print form or digitally using Keyshot

5. Product marketing — using Figma to create app frames and Photoshop/ Illustrator/Keyshot to put the product in scene mockups

For me, I am solving a workflow for a rapid product design process that yields fantastic results. It is a process that I’ve been interested in exploring for a long time, but haven’t had the time to explore. It is a missing skillset in my abilities and I think will fill a missing link in being able to create the visuals for innovative products in a short amount of time.

I am interested in doing weeklong sprints through this process to create 3 solid products using this workflow. I may go back to old products and refine them with this process or develop new products through this process.

This process will weave together my Entrepreneurial Design, Branding Design, and UX design as I’ll give each product a full description of a business model, branding assets, and animated app mockups.

I still need to do a tutorial on Gravity Sketch and Rhino SubD functions. I also will be exploring 3D printing materials in this project, which I’ll send to the Idea Forge. The rest of the learning I’ll explore through doing and making.
